“Basic Handgun” is a class designed to lay the foundation of fundamental handgun techniques. This class focuses on firearms safety, handgun accuracy and recoil mitigation. In addition to the fundamentals this class also provides the student with the building blocks of drawing from a holster and malfunction clearances. By the end of this class, the student will have a better understanding of pistol shooting as well as proper dry fire techniques and information about further training opportunities. Michigan CPL Cost: $140 (range fee included) Course Length: 8-9 hours Course Description: The NRA’s Personal Protection In The Home (PPITH) course meets the requirements for Michigan’s Concealed Pistol License (CPL) application. This course covers the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for the protection of yourself, your family, and to provide information on the law-abiding individual’s right to self-defense. What to expect: Information on defensive shooting. Defense inside the home before, during, and after the event. A legal brief from an attorney educated in the Use of Deadly Force. Aspects of selecting the right handgun for you. Information on additional and continued training. Cumulative exam over the course information. Range portion in which we will fire a minimum of 125 rounds of ammunition which will cover both the pre-qualification and required shooting courses of fire. Required equipment: A handgun you plan to shoot during the course (recommended that you bring the handgun you plan to carry). Recommended 9mm/.38spl or larger caliber. 150 rounds (200 recommended) of quality ammunition for the firearm you plan on taking to the course. "Defensive Handgun" is a class that focuses on practical and defensive based skills crucial to fighting with a handgun. Upon completion, the student will have a better understanding of defensive techniques such as one handed shooting, non-standard shooting positions and the use of cover, all while being held to a high degree of accuracy and maintaining safe firearms handling. This is an intermediate level class, therefore sucessful completion of "Basic Handgun" or equivalent (please email for details) is a prerequisite. Skills and Drills
Skills and Drills Night with Steadfast Applications. Find your Personal Baseline. This will consist of drills that we have found beneficial to our own training that are either scored, timed, or both. We will explain the drill, what that particular drill focused on in terms of training, and why it's important. You will leave with a personal score sheet which would be your Personal Baseline performance in which to train against and raise. Targets will be made available to attendees to facilitate personal growth during future training sessions. A holster will be required for most of the drills we will run. Round count is up to you, but we recommend 150. $40 per person. Will be from 5pm until dark.
